2 Day Rwanda Gorilla Trek | Volcanoes National Park Gorilla Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide and briefed about your upcoming gorilla trekking experience.

Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short Kigali city tour where you may visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, and cultural centers while learning about Rwanda’s inspiring history and transformation.

After the city experience, depart Kigali and drive north toward Volcanoes National Park located in the scenic Virunga Mountain region.

Enjoy breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, beautiful countryside, and rural villages during the drive often referred to as the journey through the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”

Arrive at your lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay near the gorilla trekking headquarters.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience – Return to Kigali

Wake up early for breakfast before transferring to the park headquarters for a briefing by Rwanda Development Board ranger guides about gorilla trekking rules and safety procedures.

After the briefing, enter the dense rainforest slopes of Volcanoes National Park and begin your thrilling gorilla trekking adventure accompanied by experienced ranger guides and trackers.

The trek may take a few hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family, but every moment through the forest is filled with excitement, birdlife, and breathtaking scenery.

Once the gorillas are located, spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, groom, rest, and interact naturally within their forest habitat.

Standing close to these gentle giants is considered one of the greatest wildlife experiences in the world.

After the trek, receive your gorilla trekking certificate before driving back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel, marking the end of your unforgettable Rwanda gorilla safari.
